Former Donzell’s Garden Center Site in Akron Sold to Penske Truck Leasing by SVN

Announced today by SVN Summit Commercial Real Estate Group, the former Donzell's Flower & Garden Center site in Akron has been purchased by Harrisburg, Pennsylvania-based Penske Truck Leasing and will become a truck rental and service center.

Penske, as well as the Donzell family who ran the garden center for 66 years, were both represented by SVN. Its team led the year-long sales process with City of Akron officials and planning commissions to get the space properly zoned for conditional use for a truck rental and service facility. The property sold for $950,000.

Located at 937 E. Waterloo Rd. in Akron, the site will be the home of used-truck sales, one-way rentals to local commercial customers and consumers, and full-service truck leasing with contracted service. Plans by Penske also include a truck service center on the nearly 10-acre site and offices on the 35,000 sq. ft. building, along with a wash bay and a three-lane fueling facility that would offer diesel and gasoline to its customers and fleet.

This project was led by SVN managing director Jerry Fiume, SIOR, CCIM along with Aaron Davis, associate advisor at SVN.

“This is a great project for Akron,” said Fiume. “The Penske project will continue to add to the renaissance that Akron is experiencing and jump start this part of town.”
